Yoga is so great for our bodies and not many studios are offering it for our pregnant women in the Sutherland shire. As we see so many pregnant women and mamas, we decided that we would like to help women access pregnancy yoga classes in our clinic.

When should I start maternity yoga?

Pregnancy yoga is gentle and safe. As long as your health provider approves, we are supportive of women starting maternity yoga in their first trimester. Your yoga teacher will ask you the stage of pregnancy that you are at so that we can cater safely to you.

Is yoga during pregnancy safe?

Pregnancy yoga is extremely safe. Certain movements should be avoided to not put too much pressure on the abdominal cavity. Our yoga teachers are trained in guiding you through safe movements to benefit your pregnancy.

Is yoga OK at 4-5 weeks pregnant?

A pregnant women in her first trimester should be able to do basic yoga poses. It is important that women listen to their body when performing yoga or any other exercise.

Does yoga make labour easier?

Yoga exercises can relieve muscle tension that can develop in pregnancy and has been shown to increase flexibility, muscle strength, endurance and energy which is important for labour.

What are the benefits of combining chiropractic care with yoga?

The combination of Chiropractic care in pregnancy with Yoga often means that a women’s body is more aligned and is more flexible and strong. This can benefit women in supporting the changing biomechanics of their body. We often find it helps women to feel more comfortable.
